A graduate engineer by qualification, Narendra Nahata began his working life with a small business and was active in social life through the local Lions Club. He entered politics in 1985 following the death of his father, an eminent lawyer known particularly for election and criminal law and a former Member of Parliament.
Elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1985, he became a Minister in 1993 and served again from 1998. His public work has included technical and medical education, science and technology, commerce and industries, rural industries and other responsibilities.
Alongside public life, he developed a long-term interest in creating institutions in a smaller town of Madhya Pradesh. The central idea was to bring education, banking and opportunity closer to people and to contribute to the identity and development of Mandsaur and the wider Malwa region.
His ministerial work covered education, technology and industrial development. The detailed record will be expanded as additional information is provided.

The decision to establish institutions in a smaller town was guided by the belief that talented young people should not have to leave their region simply to find quality education and opportunity.
The educational journey began with BR Nahata College of Pharmacy in 1995 and Mandsaur Institute of Technology in 1996. These institutions grew and were ultimately upgraded into Mandsaur University in 2016.
The wider institutional ecosystem now includes higher education, school education, cooperative banking, charitable initiatives and community radio. Together, these organisations provide employment to more than 1,000 people.
